You can now plan and execute DJI Dock flights in DroneDeploy

Drone management specialist DroneDeploy has announced open beta support for the DJI Dock drone-in-a-box solution. Meaning, you’ll now be able to plan and execute your DJI Dock flights directly in the DroneDeploy platform.

As you likely know, DJI Dock is a durable, easy-to-set-up, fully programmable base station for the Dock version of the Matrice 30 drone series. With DJI Dock on a worksite, human operators don’t have to handle the drone for take-off, landing, or file management.

Docked drones enable teams to fly more frequently and achieve automatic, repeatable workflows for applications like asset inspection, calculating change over time, and comparing the on-ground reality with design. And now, you can manage your docked drone fleet, perform autonomous inspections over large or remote areas, and have that data automatically uploaded into your DroneDeploy project, at the click of a button.

DJI Dock uses Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) for connectivity between the station and the aircraft, ensuring high accuracy for all maps captured using the product. So, whether or not you have a waiver to fly for longer ranges beyond the pilot’s visual line of sight (BVLOS), docked drones can make reality capture more efficient by enabling more frequent flights and allowing the team to spend less time on SD cards, battery management, as well as physically traveling to the worksite.

Here’s how you can use DJI Dock with DroneDeploy software:

  1. Plan your flights in DroneDeploy as normal using the standard flight types.
  2. Connect to any DJI Dock on your site.
  3. Fly the mission right from the same flight planning screen and watch a live low-latency video and telemetry from the drone.
  4. Data captured on each flight is uploaded to the correct DroneDeploy project and processed automatically.

Do keep in mind that DroneDeploy only supports the original DJI Dock currently. The platform also intends to support DJI Dock 2, which is designed for the Matrice 3D and 3DT series, but is not available in the US at present.
