FAA Awards New Mexico Film Company First Drone Waiver

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued the first waiver to an Albuquerque, N.M. cinema drone company. The film company will be allowed to fly over the crew and cast on film locations.

According to Flytcam Motion Pictures Managing Partner Luke Davis, they are the first company to receive such a waiver under the UAS Integration Pilot Program from the FAA. According to Davis the film company had been helping the FAA draft rules and regulations for drone flying for the past few years.

The Albuquerque Journal reported that the waiver will enable the film company to get aerial drone shots they could not have gotten any other way.
