New Ronin-S firmware released by DJI – v1.8.0.70

Ronin-s firmware update dji

Yesterday, DJI released new Ronin-S firmware. The new firmware update (v1.8.0.70) brings you a number of new features. For instance: various focus speed settings for Nikon, Canon and Panasonic cameras, photo capture, video recording, autofocus, and focus pull support for Canon EOS 6D Mark II, Canon EOS R and Nikon Z6 cameras with supported lenses. Similar features for Sony A7M3 and A7R3 cameras and more. Unfortunately, I don’t have a Ronin-S to check out these new features but this seems like a pretty big firmware update to me. Let us know what your findings are after updating your Ronin-S in the comments below.

DJI Ronin S single-handed stabilizer – At $699, the price is right. Pre-order today!

DJI Ronin S single-handed stabilizer - At $699, the price is right. Pre-order today!

What a great way to start the week! DJI just introduced to much anticipated DJI Ronin S. I was able to play around with a Ronin S prototype during the AUVSI 2018 conference earlier this year and this single-handed stabilizer surely felt to be the real deal. However, the big question was always, how much will DJI charge for this gimbal? DJI employees told me: less than one thousand US dollars. Today, I’m glad to find out that the new DJI Ronin S will sell for $699 USD, positioning it right below its competitor the Zhiyun Crane 2 which is priced at $749.

The DJI Ronin S is available for pre-orders today at DJI, and exclusively through B&H (saves you sales tax if you live outside NY/NJ). Shipping will start in late June.

All-new DJI Ronin-S will be a game changer if DJI prices it right

All-new DJI Ronin-S will be a game changer if DJI prices it right

Yesterday, DJI announced their all-new DJI Ronin-S stabilizer. It will come in two different sizes to support both mirrorless and D-SLR cameras. It will also work with the most common camera and (zoom) lens combinations, such as the Canon 5D, Panasonic GH, and Sony Alpha series. On paper, it seems like DJI has a winner on their hands with the all-new Ronin-S. It has all the features you could wish for, but no word yet on the pricing.

Will DJI price this stabilizer as aggressively as they have priced the redesigned Osmo Mobile 2? Let’s take a closer look.
