Mobile network giant AT&T has announced the opening of its brand-new 5G innovation studio, a place for projects, including drones, to be researched, developed, and introduced to the public. A recent project AT&T has shared with us is on drones being used as a test environment for the Microsoft Azure Edge Zone.

Ohio Drone has partnered with T-Mobile under AMITOLA LLC to bring live-streaming capabilities to drones via T-Mobile’s 5G network. Before the T-Mobile partnership, Ohio Drone partnered with SaaS company Rawhide Intel Services to commercialize a live-streaming platform for drone operators called Streaming Revolution.

Latvian Mobile Telephone (LMT) has completed the first cross-border drone flight run completely on its 5G network. It sent the drone to neighboring Estonia. The drone flight spanned more than 8 km (5 miles) and used two SIM cards to stay connected.
