DJI Matrice 200 V2, 210 V2 and 210 RTK V2 show in FCC filing

New versions of the popular enterprise drones are underway. In an FCC filing (FCC ID SS3-M200V21811) the DJI Matrice 200 V2, Matrice 210 V2 and Matrice 210 RTK V2 show up. From the filing, it does not become obvious what kind of improvements can be expected. Nor does it give us any indication as to when these new models may be released. Typically there between 4-8 weeks between a new DJI product showing up in FCC filings and its actual release. Unless, of course, there is a delay.

DJI Matrice 200, 210, 210 RTK V2

The DJI Matrice series of drones is aimed at commercial and enterprise customers. The unmanned aircraft can be outfitted with one or more gimbals and even RTK precision GPS. The Matrice was first introduced in February 2017.

The DJI Matrice is a foldable, waterproof quadcopter that has become popular in a wide range of applications, ranging from surveying, inspections, firefighting and search and rescue operations. The Matrice can be outfitted with the Zenmuse XT2 dual camera, that provides both a thermal and regular camera to aid in search and rescue missions. The recently launched DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual provides similar functionality at a much lower price point but provides a much lower resolution and image quality.

In the FCC filing, it does not become clear what new or improved specs these drones will bring. Nor is there any mention of a release date. In previous situations where DJI launched a V2 of a certain drone, improvements were found in slightly extended flight time, lower noise propellers, improved range of connectivity, etc. Enough to warrant a V2, but not significant enough for a new generation. From the FCC filing:

“SZ DJI TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD,hereby requests long-term confidential treatment of information accompanying this application as outlined below:

  • Block Diagram
  • Schematics
  • Operation Description.

As well as short-term (secrecy cycle: 45 days) confidential treatment of information application as outlined below:

  • User’s Manual
  • External Photos
  • Test Set-up Photos

The above materials contain proprietary and confidential information not customarily released to the public. The public disclosure of these materials provides unjustified benefits to its competitors in the market.”

We expect the new DJI Matrice 200 V2, Matrice 210 V2 and Matrice 210 RTK drones to be released in Q1 of 2019.
