Thermal camera for the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise delayed?

It seems that today’s announcement of what we assume is a new thermal camera for the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise might be delayed. We have reached out to DJI for an official statement, but have not heard back as of yet. I hope this is not the beginning of a new trend. I’m sure you remember, the delay of the release of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom last summer. As soon as we hear back from DJI, we will update you here on DroneDJ.

DJI thermal camera delayed?

Last week, DJI enterprise suddenly announced that they would introduce a new product on Monday morning at 9 am ET, December 17th. Yes, that was this morning. Meanwhile, the morning has come and gone, but there has not been an official announcement from DJI Enterprise. We have reached out to DJI for an official statement of what is going on and when we might expect to see something. We hope the introduction might still be today but a DJI Enterprise tweet from this morning “but what’s a little delayed mystery over the Holidays?” seems to indicate otherwise. Does this mean the expected thermal camera for the DJI Mavic 2 enterprise will not be released until after the Holidays?

It makes you wonder what is going on with DJI as this might become the second delay of a new product for the Chinese drone maker this year. Over the summer we had the widely documented delay of the introduction of the new Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom drones. Now it seems that DJI Enterprise might be suffering a similar delay.

We expect that DJI Enterprise will be releasing a new thermal camera for the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise. The camera will likely be developed in partnership with FLIR Systems.

We have reached out to DJI for an official answer and will update you as soon as we hear back from them.
