DJI’s CrystalSky works with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom as well

Since the launch of the Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom, people who own the CystalSky displays had been quite frustrated as their displays were not compatible with these new drones. Many of them took to the DJI Forums to express their disappointment and to ask when an update would be available. Since the latest DJI GO 4.3.0 update, that problem has now bee solved and the DJI CrystalSky display works with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom.

DJI’s CrystalSky display

Unfortunately, we don’t (yet) have a CystalSky display ourselves to test with, but many people on the DJI forums have reported that it works just fine and included photos as proof. Mad RC (thanks!) uploaded a video to YouTube a few days ago showing you how to upgrade the DJI GO 4 app to get the display to work. We will include that below.

Why would you use DJI’s CrystalSky?

Most people who own a Mavic 2 drone will simply use their smartphone to run the DJI GO 4 app and fly their drone. However, many professionals use the CrystalSky display not just for the larger screen size but for its performance. The display excels in low or high-temperature environments and bright sunlight. Conditions in which a smartphone or tablet simply won’t cut it.

In short, the DJI CrystalSky offers you a screen with a maximum 1000 cd/m² of brightness. This is about 2 times as bright as what you get from a typical mobile device and allows you to work in bright sunlight conditions. If that is still not enough, you can opt for the Ultra Brightness version that goes up to a maximum 2000 cd/m² of brightness, about 4 times as bright as your phone.

The DJI CrystalSky is also compatible with the Phantom, Inspire, Matrice, Osmo, Mavic Pro, and Cendence.

The DJI CrystalSky also has a slightly lower latency for smoother video display. It is able to operate in as low as -4°F (-20°C) and, with its internal cooling system, functions normally in temperatures as high as 104°F (40°C). And, It offers dual SD card slots. The display typically runs up to 5 or 6 hours depending on which model you chose. It comes in three versions:

  • CrystalSky (5.5″ High Brightness) – USD $469
  • CrystalSky (7.85″ High Brightness) – USD $699
  • CrystalSky (7.85″ Ultra Brightness) – USD $999

You can buy the display directly from DJI online using this link.
