DJI Mavic 2 Pro even more expensive after DJI’s latest price hike

This morning DJI raised the price on the DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone from $1,449 to $1,499. The price hike comes shortly after a steep price increase on many of the accessories that a typical customer might want to add to their drone. They include the Fly More Kit, batteries, and ND filters. Interestingly, the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom has not changed in price and is still offered at $1,249.

DJI increases price of Mavic 2 Pro

Four days ago, we reported on a price increase on many accessories for the DJI Mavic 2 drones. The price of the Fly More Kit went up from $319 to $379. That is almost a 20% price increase. Prices of individual items, such as the Mavic 2 Intelligent Flight Battery and the DJI ND filters did go up as well.

Today, we find out that the price hike not only applies to the accessories but that it also affects drones. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro went up in price from $1,449 to $1,499.

Previously you could buy the Mavic 2 Pro and Fly More Kit for a combined $1,768. Now you need to shell out $1,878 of your hard-earned cash. That’s an additional $110 bucks.

DJI’s explanation

It remains unclear why DJI decided to raise the price so soon after the introduction of the Mavic 2. After DJI’s initial price hike last week, the company offered the following explanation:

“DJI regularly reviews its product strategy and pricing structure for its drones, handheld products and accessories. Price adjustments enable us to produce high-quality, cutting-edge technology according to our standard of innovation.

With the global launch of the Mavic 2 series, the newly introduced Fly More Kit was set at $319 USD. Starting today, the US retail price will be adjusted to $379. Similar price adjustments are being implemented in all our global markets. For customers who require additional batteries, propellers, chargers and a carrying case, the Fly More Kit remains the most ideal option with a significant cost savings. Prices of individual accessories will also be adjusted accordingly.

If the price hike would be a direct result of trade tariffs, you would expect it to affect more DJI products. Therefore we do not think they are the result of the ongoing trade war between the US and China.
