Drone video shows Myrtle Beach deserted as it braces for hurricane Florence

As Florence, a Category 4 hurricane is making its way toward the US East coast, Robbie Bischoff took his drone out last evening to record the deserted town of Myrtle Beach, SC. The video shows many dark and boarded-up buildings. When watching the video you will also notice that there are hardly any cars on the streets anymore. It seems that most people have left the beach town in search of a safer place to stay.

“What an eerie sight this evening..I was able shoot some drone video of the boarded up and deserted Boardwalk area of Myrtle Beach. There were still a few people out there, however seeing the shops boarded up and the the gondolas being removed from the SkyWheel was just plane sad. Here’s hoping this area and our residents will make it through this unpredictable storm. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the path of Florence tonight…”

Hurricane Florence is a Category 4 hurricane that is moving toward the US East coast. As of writing this article, the hurricane is expected to hit the Carolinas starting this Thursday and continuing through this weekend. According to AccuWeather Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski:

“A jump in strength to a Category 5 hurricane is possible Wednesday to Thursday, before some weakening may take place prior to landfall to end the week.”
