DJI’s new head offices in Shenzhen feature a sky bridge to launch drones from

The architectural design firm, Foster + Partners unveiled the new head offices for Chinese drone-maker, DJI that is currently being built in Shenzhen. The new building consists of two towers connected by a sky bridge from which drones can be launched directly. The idea behind the design is to move away from a traditional office space and instead build a creative community in the sky. The building is currently under construction.

Launch your drone from DJI’s Sky bridge

The twin towers will form the ‘heart of innovation’ for DJI and will combine research and development spaces with offices and other public areas. The building this designed to creates large open spaces throughout, with unique quadruple-height and column-free drone flight testing labs. The architectural company had this to say about the unique design:

“The towers are linked by a sky bridge, which will become another platform for showcasing the latest drone technology.”

The first floor will feature a public exhibition space to showcase digitized innovation when it comes to robotics and drone development. Grant Brooker, Head of Studio, Foster + Partners said:

“Our aim is to create a unique workplace environment that embodies the spirit of invention and innovation that has allowed DJI to lead the world in robotics and technology.”

The video below gives an impression of what the building will be like once it’s completed and I have to say it does look really futuristic. I guess I will have to start thinking about planning a trip to Shenzhen once the building is completed.
