Today, DJI quietly releases the new Phantom 4 Pro V2.0. It is no surprise really, as we have been reporting on this new quadcopter from the Chines drone maker for some time now. The P4P V2.0 retails for $1,499, or more depending on options, and is available for purchase starting today. Here are all the highlights.
DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0
First off, the new DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 does come with the noise-reduction propellers we first saw in the FCC filing. According, to the Chinese drone maker that reduce the noise of the unmanned aerial vehicle by 4Db, which may not sound like much but will make a significant difference.
The Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 has the same 1-inch 20MP Exmor R CMOS sensor with a mechanical shutter, a flight time of 30 minutes and smarter features. It has a range of 4.375 miles, shoots video in 4K at 60fps and burst mode at 14 fps. Its FlightAutonomy system includes dual rear vision sensors and infrared sensing for a combined 5 directions obstacle sensing and 4 directions of obstacle avoidance with a 100 feet sensing range. The new drone features an OcuSync HD transmission system, that supports automatic dual-frequency band switching and connects to the DJI Goggles wirelessly. The ‘old’ Phantom 4 Pro used LightBridge instead. The remote controller of Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 is not compatible with the Phantom 4 Pro. Other accessories such as batteries, chargers, and ND filters are compatible with both models.
The Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 also features an upgraded propulsion system with FOC sinusoidal driver ESCs and 9455S quick-release propellers that reduce noise and make the drone more aerodynamic.
The Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 and Phantom 4 Pro propellers are cross-compatible. However, Phantom 4 Pro propellers (9450S) are less aerodynamic and louder than Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 propellers (9455S propellers). It has the same maximum flight time and maximum speed as the Phantom 4 Pro.
The DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 is available in 3 configurations:

DroneDJ’s take
All in all, it seems that the new DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 is a very minor upgrade to the old Phantom 4 Pro. The new model has a better transmission system with DJI’s OcuSync, connect to your DJI Goggles wirelessly, is quieter with the low-noise props, weighs slightly less, and costs the same as the current model. Other than that it is really the same quadcopter. So, if you’re in the market for a DJI Phantom 4 Pro than by all means get the V2.0. However, if you already own a P4P than there really is no reason to upgrade. Just buy the silent props once they become available in the DJI store.
