Yuneec introduces Typhoon H Plus, first fixed-wing and racing drones at CES 2018

Yuneec introduced three new drones at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The first one, and possibly the most important one, is the Typhoon H Plus, a successor to the Typhoon H that was launched in 2016. Besides the Typhoon H Plus, Yuneec also launched a fixed-wing drone, named the Yuneec Fixed Wing Firebird FPV. Lastly, they also introduced a new budget-friendly HD racer, a first for Yuneec.

The Yuneec Typhoon H Plus

The Typhoon H Plus is the second version of the unmanned aerial vehicle aimed at professional photographers and videographers. The Typhoons camera consists of a one-inch 20-megapixel sensor and a “large-aperture” lens. The camera shoots 4K video @ 60 fps. Yuneec also claims that low-light performance has been improved.

The Typhoon H Plus has a larger six-rotor hex airframe. The rotors produce 40% less noise, according to Yuneec and can fly in winds up to 30mph in a stable fashion. The typhoon H Plus features obstacle avoidance and uses Intel RealSense technology for this purpose. The Android-based controller has a 7-inch 720p display.

Pricing and availability: The Typhoon H Plus will be available in the first half of 2018 and will be priced at the same $1,799.99 as its predecessor.

The Yuneec Firebird FPV

The Firebird FPV is Yuneec first fixed-wing drone and offers an immersive in-cockpit flying experience for its user. The lightweight design enables the Firebird FPV to fly for up to 30 minutes and is designed to make flying easy for the pilot. This fixed-wing drone can perform acrobatic maneuvers including inverted flight, rolls and loops. This aerial vehicle also offers an automated return home feature, landing, and geofencing modes as well as a safety feature that prevents you from flying too low.

Pricing and availability: the Yuneec Firebird FPV will be available in the first half of the year and will retail for $699.99

The Yuneec HD Racer

Yuneec’s first racing drone, the HD Racer, is a small and compact racing drone for pilots from all skill levels. It features built-in flight stabilization and protected blades. This little drone is strongly built and is easy to fly, even inside your home. An all-digital, low latency HD video downlink provides the pilot with live feed while flying or racing this little drone. In case you do hit an obstacle and the drone flips over, Yuneec’s ‘Flip-Up’ mode will automatically upright your aircraft so that you can continue your race. The onboard camera records 1080p video @ 60 fps.

Pricing and availability: the Yuneec HD Racer will be available in the second half of this year and will retail for $179.99 upon release.
